How families view marriage as a business deal.
This topic is quite controversial, simply because people slather on this idea that the world is gender neutral when so many parts of the patriarchy and its evergrowing mindset are not gender neutral.
Marriage is a business deal and often the most risky for women.
My mother’s marriage holds a lot of significance because her marriage and other ones I know of hold similar degrees of trauma.
In fact, it’s shown me how to rise from circumstances that are unfavorable for women. One of them is the negotiation we know as marriage. Arranged marriage before the 2000s, had a lot of shortcomings in its approach, however, I would still say the approach has a lot of benefits in the modern way. Plus South Asians don’t know how to date or have courtship.
One of the biggest shortcomings is how, women are still not trained to this day to see how they’re involved in the system, and my mother, and the women she knows, were equally blind. They now see how much their power was stolen and how much they fell into the traps of what a “Shareef” (humble) man was when he never had the characteristics to be one.
Another shortcoming is to understand that the woman is a part of the actual business deal, she is the one being sold. When men and their…
