The Indentured Wife

The tea is spilling and the tea is hot.
It’s hot because I’m exposing the reality that many immigrant women face.
Our servitude towards others is often taken for granted. We still live in this reality today with many women becoming traditional wives, without a backup plan.
I don’t follow social media’s extreme takes on life, I think it should be about how women should win in the end. After all, we do outlive men.

My mother got married to my father, however, he wasn’t supportive of her career and often kept her in a box of “she has to be the traditional wife,” without being a traditional man himself. He married with a glorified idea of what his mother was.
In fact, over time his health and narcissistic tendencies were creating financial turmoil. He never wanted her to supersede him in any way.
