Don’t Get Trapped

If you did the inner work, don’t just get married to undo it.

As a disclaimer, I do love the idea of marriage or partnership — when two healthy people understand the dynamic.

In this case, I’m going to talk about a specific circumstance that pops up in my surroundings quite frequently. People who’ve done the inner work, to reverse all of it by marrying into the wrong family.

As a South Asian, I see this all the time. You work relentlessly to change your self-esteem, your looks, your confidence, and overall energy — -only to give up to some random guy with unresolved family trauma issues. The chains of control only get worse.

As a South Asian woman, you’re not given a degree of freedom like others. There’s a restriction on your clothes, your voice, your mind, and your overall presence. People still think that the sons born into their families are much better than prospective daughters.

You are also not allowed to have high standards where peace is the highest standard. Society overall doesn’t let brown women develop a strong levelheadedness in their minds — it’s considered a “hard conditioning,” that makes absolutely no sense. A lot of brown women are encouraged to be dicey on having high standards — — as I’ve written about this below:
