Are You Open-Minded?

There’s a difference between intellectualizing and challenging yourself.

Most people are not open-minded. There I said it.

Do you know why? They fail to challenge their perspective. We appreciate diversity of people but not diversity of thought.

And that’s why people hear what they’re triggered by rather than assessing their worldview is hindering them in life.

They hear, but they don’t comprehend. They hear and say they're listening but don’t truly understand.

Another thing is that most people think of terms like “growth-minded,” “ambitious,” “driven,” or “open-minded,” in colonialistic terms — — also known as the white man’s gaze.

They look at these terms solely for corporate standards — but let me tell you, the average person doesn’t consider inner work as an idea for growth-minded. In fact it’s very “by-passy” how people tout a growth mindset without having the capability to address their emotional triggers.

Who can blame them? It takes courage to see the truth.

A good example is the article I wrote here. Having high standards requires seeing the truth:
