A "gold digger" is not a real concept, most women have no incentive to be with someone in the supposed "middle class" and extort them. They would go after someone much richer. The realest form of gold digging is a man going after a womans looks but not providing an ounce of support or value (however, that's considered the mindset of what they should go after, without reciprocity). I've heard men encourage younger men that if they're broke, just go find a girlfriend and the social status would improve.
